These are the very first words on my experience with the Devorama U1 device, “Music of the Plants“, a device sold by the community of Damanhur (a spiritual and scientific community in northern Italy).
This is a series of three blog articles (Intro-A-B) about the beginning, in 2015, of this miraculous encounter that still occupies me today…
At the time, Jean Thoby needed feedback for an audit carried out by scientists, to find out whether it was worth investing in this field. I had had the device for four weeks and I was spending my days making fascinating discoveries. I was only just beginning to use words… first names. A few weeks later, I would start using word keyboards, keyboards that I inaugurated on the evening of the 24 Hours of Meditation for the Earth at the Grand Rex, that same year.
It is difficult to define what is going on. Does the plant hear? Scientists seem to have shown that it does… Does the plant understand? Certainly, but what? To what extent? Where? Why? How? The list of questions grows longer as the encounter unfolds, and once on this road, anyone who could say “I have understood” would be a fool.
No, it is not about understanding, nor about convincing, but about exploring. About meeting yourself and meeting the other. Quite a journey for those who have the time, the patience, the joy, the pleasure of discovery and the means.
The device costs 700 euros and you will need samplers (unless you make do with the sounds of the device itself… rather poor sounds), speakers, and so on.
But the journey is fascinating, and the shake-up of your concepts is considerable.
Will we manage to play music together? Sometimes it works. As if by magic, but most of the time, it is something you listen to. Not with the ears, but with the heart, with the intention.
She will play what you want to hear.
